Pinchu Macha- (Review of various mp3s)
Whoa! Talk about an awesome discovery! Pinchu Macha were an all female hardcore punk/ alternative/ band formed in New York back in 1994 who broke up in 97. It seems that they just recorded one 7 inch, released on burst into flames records. From what I can tell, these 3 tracks are what’s on the 7inch.
It’s really too bad that these folks didn’t record more stuff, because this is some raw, very powerful material. The bass and guitar are simply dripping with marvelous fuzz drone, the drums thump along like an angry machine, and the vocals are energetic, spastic and insane as hell!
All of the three tracks blend slower Sabbathy riffs with fast hardcore assaults, which works really well. It’s kind of like what I imagine a more insane, primal Babes in Toyland would have sounded like, with a bit of a no wave sensability, vaguely reminiscent of fellow obscure New York band Twitcher.
This is very cool stuff! Check them out! You won’t regret it. And if you are unlike me and still posess a record player, buy a copyof the 7inch! It’s only $3!
