Sick Fix- Demo(lish)
Review by Royce Icon

Sick Fix are a loud and noisy female fronted hardcore band based out of Baltimore and D.C. They mix fast thrashy music with emotional and political themed vocals and an overall interesting musical dynamic.

Demo(lish) is to the best of my knowledge their first release, and it totally fucking kills. It’s technically a demo, but it doesn’t really sound like it. The mixing is a bit low at times, but that’s about it. Everything comes through just fine: The vocals are violent and powerful, the guitars are fast and super aggro, and the drums are a complete pounding onslaught.

This thing is only about six minutes long, but it’s more addictive than crack. You cannot listen to it just once. As soon as your ears venture into these short blasts of punk rock perfection, you will NEED to hear them over and over again. As I am writing this review I am on my 8th consecutive listen to it, and I’m not planning on stopping soon.

One great thing about Sick Fix is the fact that they don’t have a typical hardcore sound. They don’t mind bringing thrash or even noise-rock elements into the mix. They don’t stick to the typical breakdown mold and they play with real ardor, energy, and sincerity that I really admire.

All in all, Demo(lish) fucking rules! Go to their site and download a copy, or better yet, buy a copy. They sound even better live than they do recorded, so if they play in your town you should see them for sure.
